Brainstorming game mechanics is one of the phases of the gamification process. The objective of the brainstorming phase is to generate new ideas that allow the player to be involved and pursue the project objectives at the same time.
On the other hand, an electronic game obviously requires moments of control and feedback as well as specific behaviours to complete each action.
Gamification has now become not only a word in common use and is considered a teaching methodology fully accepted in classrooms all over the world.
Studies show that translating educational objectives through exciting challenges typical of a video game, for example by awarding badges, satisfies the need for competence and increases player participation.
Obviously the player becomes totally absorbed in the activity he is carrying out if it generates pleasure and this happens if the task to be carried out seems possible to complete and controllable and at the same time shows with a clear objective and with immediate feedback. However, when there is too large a difference between the mission and real subjective abilities, the player feels anger, frustration and anxiety and an inevitable withdrawal from the game follows.
