Welcome to our first tutorial on Making a Game with Phaser 3. Here we will learn how to create a small game involving a player running and jumping around platforms, collecting stars and avoiding baddies. While going through this process we’ll explain some of the core features of the framework.
Phaser is an HTML5 game framework which aims to help developers make powerful, cross-browser HTML5 games really quickly. It was created specifically to harness the benefits of modern browsers, both desktop and mobile. The only browser requirement is the support of the canvas tag.
The available files (index.html and the Assets folder) allow the game compiled in html5 to be used locally on the computer. This requires installing XAMPP.
Once the XAMPP server is installed, it will be necessary to start the APACHE services.
The game (all downloaded files) must be placed inside the htdocs folder (usually “C:\xampp\htdocs”) and once they are inside, the address: http://127.0.0.1/phaser3 (being phaser3 the name of the folder that contains the game within htdocs.
