The Games4Green – Space Invaders Adaptation is an educational game developed using Construct 2. It is designed to raise awareness about environmental conservation while teaching basic game development concepts.
This game is an eco-friendly adaptation of the classic Space Invaders. Instead of shooting spaceships, players control a recycling ship that fires recycling beams to eliminate harmful pollutants, such as toxic waste, plastic debris, and industrial pollutants. Each type of enemy represents a different form of environmental contamination, reinforcing the importance of proper waste management.
As players progress, they navigate through different ecosystems affected by pollution, such as plastic-filled oceans, littered forests, and polluted cities. The difficulty increases to represent the real-world challenge of cleaning up the environment. Players can also unlock special powers, such as a cleaning beam that clears large amounts of waste or an ecological shield that protects against dangerous pollutants.
The game also includes informative messages between levels, providing facts about recycling, waste reduction, and ecosystem protection. Players receive ecological rewards for correctly sorting waste, encouraging positive environmental behaviors.
Technically, the game is built with Construct 2, a user-friendly, event-driven game engine. It features customizable templates, animated sprites, interactive player controls, and collision mechanics. Players move the recycling ship using arrow keys, fire recycling beams, and avoid pollutants while earning points for cleaning up waste.
The game is intended for students, educators, and environmentally conscious players, combining fun gameplay with real-world environmental education. It aims to promote sustainability and inspire eco-friendly habits while making game development accessible to learners of all skill levels.
